DAY 15...the Light in You

"You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."  - Matthew 5:14-16

There is a light in you. In this tough place that you have found yourself in, in this cage or prison that you've tried to escape from for so long, there are others and while it's easy to give in to the cage you're in, there is an opportunity to give hope.

You may not have been perfect these last few weeks. Perhaps you've fallen a few times, then again maybe not. I don't know, you know and hopefully someone you've been talking to knows. Remember the art of fighting without fighting. Remember that you're not alone and if you're not alone there are many others who need a light shined on them. They need to be reminded of the beauty inside them.

If you haven't seen the movie, Shawshank Redemption you really should. All these men are stuck in prison and one man brings them something they haven't heard in a long time.
Be the one who is in the cage with others for a while making life better. When someone feels like they're free, they can finally work toward freedom. Be the light that is in you. This light is given to you by God. It IS the light of Christ.

And when the thoughts inside you or the pressures from outside sources or urges come, to make you stop the good things that you're doing and which brings life to others around you. Stare that thought, pressure, or urge right in the face and "turn up the music." Turn up the goodness and the badness will not be able to defend itself. You don't need to fight the darkness with anger or shame. That doesn't work.  Use the good things to bring life to others.

Today's Instructions:
A. Pray for the day, for friends, for family, for enemies. Thanksgiving, Requests, Praise.
B. In the Fortify Program, Update the battle tracker. Time to begin Week 3. Check out, "How We Got Here..." and "Educate Others."
C. Go to the daily readings and read today's Scripture.
D. Journal the following: 1. What light do I have in me?  2. How can I bring my light to others?

Today's Tips: When the urges come get up. Stop. Breathe. Go brighten up someone's day. Bring them laughter or music with love.

God give you strength. See you tomorrow.
