DAY 25...Celebrity Status, part 1  - Wait, What?!

"There are 2 freedoms - the false, where man is free to do what he likes; the true, where a man is free to do what he should." - Charles Kingsley

One of the reasons this awful world of pornography continues to get traction is because we don't talk about how awful it is. One of the reasons we don't talk about how awful it is because we assume a lot of people.

We often assume that no one else has this problem.
We often assume that most people that look at pornography think its ok to do.
We often assume that if people find out about such a struggle, they will look at us differently.
We often assume porn doesn't hurt anyone.

Well there is a lot to be said about that old adage, "you know what happens when you assume...?" Well we don't need to spell it out for you, but you hopefully get the point.

It's probably safe to assume that there are some celebrities that, especially based on some of the roles they have played, are totally cool with porn. Of course it's not safe to assume anything! If you know who Russell Brand is, he plays outrageous characters and often in discussions explores different expressions of sexuality.

Sometimes he comes off as super crass, but in reality, he's a genuine thinker and is thoughtful enough to try to find true answers to a lot of his questions.  One thing that can be shocking to some is his thoughtfulness on the topic of pornography. Check it out.
Wait, what?! Russell Brand is anti-pornography?!

"I don't look at it, one day at a time." Russell's honesty and approach to the problem is refreshing!  "I think porn hurts everyone involved."

He's honest about his struggle. He's honest about the impact it has on all people. He's honest about what he would do if the situation was tempting enough. So he avoids those situations.

Applause to Russell Brand and taking this up as an honest issue to discuss.  Maybe it takes someone who just doesn't care to talk about this stuff. Or maybe we all have it in us to take a strong honest stance against pornography. We'll see who else is talking about this issue in the next few days.
