DAY 4...Everything Obvious
"You can observe a lot, just by watching." - Yogi Berra
Sometimes the obvious is ignored. There comes a time when one realizes what they're doing is wrong. In the instance of addiction, all the reasons why one shouldn't do something get outweighed or forgotten in the moment that someone succumbs to the temptation. It's how someone can in one moment say, "I'm not going to do this again." and the next day, do it again. It's important to recognize this in yourself.

There are a few lines in the song above that stand out.
Chris Stapleton sings,
"You only need a roof when it's raining.
You only need a fire when it's cold."
Thank you, Captain Obvious. But it's so much deeper than that. These statements that are obvious are things that we ignore in our state of temptation. All the important reasons like, "This junk is messing up my brain" or "I'm wasting tons of time" or "my viewing fuels sex slavery" don't seem to hold much weight in the heat of the moment.
But when it's over and the deed is done, all those obvious reasons along with guilt come rushing in. It's why one of the following lines really hits home.
"Sun comes up and goes back down, the falling feels like flying 'til you hit the ground."
The song is about a parachute, or being a parachute. This would insinuate the fall is long and hard. A fall like that would kill you. It will kill you. That might be a scary thought. But there is a solution: a parachute. Something that guides you to a safe landing. In this case, the parachute is a person. It has been stressed a lot that this war can't be won alone. Find a parachute or the fall is going to hurt.
If you haven't found an accountability partner yet, do it. He or She may save your life.
