DAY 2...The opposite of Addiction
"Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him.
And a threefold cord is not quickly broken." - Ecclesiastes 4:12 (NKJV)
Hey! You're back! Awesome! Thanks for being here.
You may have wondered at some point, "Why can't I just stop?" You may have attempted to stop viewing porn but have been unable to, time and time again. Why? You may have thought at some point, "It's stupid to think of pornography use as an addiction." But now you know better. It can definitely become an addiction because at the very core of what pornography is, you'll find the addiction principals, the RAT CAGE. Watch the video below and then I'll explain.

At the very core of pornography use is the Rat Cage. It's a cage that holds you in isolation from reality, from others, from even the people you're viewing. You're told, whether it be by someone or your own insecurities that, "NO ONE CAN FIND OUT ABOUT MY PORN HABIT." In most cases, people go to a place by themselves and when it's all over, they are still alone. And the idea of telling someone about it makes them feel dirty, guilty, ashamed.
But St. John the Golden Mouth (Chrysostom) tells us to "Be ashamed in our sin, NOT in our repentance."
There is a boldness in repentance that we must have. Be ashamed in the sin. There is a healthy level of guilt that says, "This isn't right." Then snap out of it and be bold in how you are going to change.
The fact is, if you want to break this addiction cycle, YOU MUST TELL SOMEONE. If you have already, great. If you haven't yet, you need to find someone you trust, someone who will love you no matter what, and who you love no matter what. This could be a parent, a priest, a sibling, a cousin, an uncle, a really good friend. You need to ask them for help, because it matters to you that much. Because no one wants to live in the rat cage alone.
This is Day 2, you're on your way.
Today's Instructions:
A. Pray for the day, for friends, for family, for enemies. Thanksgiving, Requests, Praise.
B. Now that you've set up your fortify program,
1. click the battle tracker and record how yesterday went. 2. Watch Video 2 in Week 1 and fill out the "time to celebrate" activity. 3. FIND YOURSELF AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER. Doing this alone will not work.
C. Go to the daily readings and read today's Scripture.
D. Read about St. Barnabas - The "Man of Encouragement"
D. Journal the following: 1. Who are three people that I care about and perhaps haven't talked to in a while? 2. What would happen if I reached out to them?
Todays Tips: When the urges come, call one of those three people (if you have their phone number) just to see how they're doing. Don't say, "I don't have time to call people." Truth is, you don't have time for time consuming porn. Make the call.
God give you strength. See you tomorrow.
Don't ever come back to this page to start over. This is the launching pad. You've already begun, even if you fall.
