DAY 6...Talking to Someone Can Be Tough

"If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything."

- Marty McFly...quoting Doc Brown in Back to the Future...paraphrasing Ben Franklin in real life.

What do you want to be? At the end of life, does it matter if you were the leader of a fortune 500 company or a homeless man on the street? If the homeless man treated others with love, compassion, and respect perhaps that's more important to you. Or perhaps not. What do you want to be? (Profession aside). Do you want to be someone who is admired for his or her integrity?  Do you want to be the best person you can be? Do you want to be like Christ? Do you want to be someone who is brave enough to talk to someone about this issue? Do you want to get over pornography?

The idea of connecting with others through phone calls, thank you notes, and finding someone to talk to about this issue has been expressed in this program as though it's an easy thing to do. To be clear, it's not. It's really really really tough. For some people, even talking to someone about the weather is tough. Perhaps you're not ready to pick up the phone and call someone, much less spilling your guts about a problem you face. A problem you're ashamed of. But remember you're not alone, and you are loved.
Perhaps today isn't the day you have an accountability partner. If you're there already, thats great! If you're not, don't be discouraged. Don't let that be a stumbling block to your overcoming the issue of struggling to overcome pornography use. Don't let ANYTHING keep you down. It hasn't quite been a week yet, perhaps you've fallen once, twice, everyday. Don't give up. Though there may be doubts from time to time, there is a road full of promise ahead.

As for those who struggle to talk to someone about this issue. You're not off the hook. You still need to. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but you should work toward a goal, a specific day in this program, maybe the 20th day in or so, when you feel ready to talk to someone about this. Set your goal now and reach it when the time comes.

For everyone who struggles, you have a few questions below you need to journal. Have at it.

Today's Instructions:
A. Pray for the day, for friends, for family, for enemies. Thanksgiving, Requests, Praise.
B. In the Fortify Program, Update the battle tracker. No Video Today. Do the "Capturing Your Story" under week one.
C. Go to the daily readings and read today's Scripture.
D. Journal the following: 1. What qualities do I want to have? 2. What are some difficulties for me? (Can be anything. i.e.. talking to people, not eating a ton. etc) It's good to identify what is hard and be real with it.

Todays Tips: Connect with someone you already have a connection with. Go ask someone you find it easy to talk to and ask these questions:
1. What is your favorite musical group/band?
2. If you could be any animal what would it be and why?
3. What was your favorite/least favorite years of school and why?
4. Why is a lemon? (See what response you get to that).
5. Who is someone you admire?
Let the conversation flow, you don't need to ask these questions bang bang bang. See where the conversation goes and journal something new you learned about that person.

God give you strength. See you tomorrow.
