DAY 9...Triggers

In this battle you need to know yourself.  Porn may be the enemy you're trying to outsmart, but in order to do that you need to build up the areas that are weakest.  It's possible that for years you've been trapped watching pornography and the sound of the internet starting up could have been something that triggered you.  For those of you who don't know that sound, here it is, for old time sake.
Yes that was the sweet sound of the internet starting up in the late 90s and early 2000s. Just don't pick up the phone.  It may have been that that disgusting sound could cause one to get urges, they didn't even intend to have.  But even then, there was a waiting period before the internet worked, and then it was so slow you had to wait some more.

So much has changed since then.  You don't have to wait to access anything anymore. It's all there right in front of you.  The simple fact that we don't have to wait for anything anymore makes responding to triggers that much easier.

A trigger could be a billboard or TV commercial. It can be the sound of a text message. Or the click of your phone opening or even the time of the day. It's why keeping up with your battle tracker is important. A trigger could be a word that a friend says in conversation unknowingly. The fact is you need to become aware of your triggers so that your first response is opposite of what your normal response.


Today's Instructions:
A. Pray for the day, for friends, for family, for enemies. Thanksgiving, Requests, Praise.
B. In the Fortify Program, Update the battle tracker. Go to Week 2. Check out, "Get the Facts" and "Good News About the Brain."
C. Go to the daily readings and read today's Scripture.
D. Journal the following: 1. What are some things that give you urges to look at pornography? 2. What are some good responses to those urges?

Today's Tips: When the urges come get up. Stop. Breathe. Think about what it was that may have caused you to have those urges. Pick up your journal and go somewhere away from your computer and phone. Write it down.

God give you strength. See you tomorrow.
