DAY 48...All Hell Breaks Loose, JAILBREAK!

"You know you got to go through hell before you get to heaven." - Steve Miller Band

Holy Saturday is this strange day in between the Crucifixion of Christ and His glorious Resurrection. What do we do? Christ is in the tomb. He's dead. Shouldn't we be mourning? The services suggest not. There is an anticipation building. We know what's next. Even Friday night the Lamentations get more and more joyous. Each service is done in anticipation for the next day. Normally Orthros is in the morning, Vespers in the evening. However during Holy Week, we're so excited for the Resurrection each day is pushed forward, Vespers is done in the morning and Orthros is done the night before it would normally be..

More than that, what we're doing between the Crucifixion and the Resurrection isn't really the focus. On Holy Saturday, all hell is breaking loose. Christ is in Hades, Sheol, the Land of Forgetfulness, the place where those of the past were held captive by death.

The Prophet Jonah cries, "Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and You heard my voice...Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O Lord, my God." (Jonah 2:2,6)  So while that's going on, we're waiting, excited.

We read, "Today Hades cried out groaning: 'My authority is dissolved; I received a mortal, as one of the mortals; but this One, I am powerless to contain; with Him I lose all those, over which, I had ruled.  For ages I had held the Dead, but behold, He raises up all.'

Hell can't handle Jesus! This whole death as a man on the cross thing, this seeming victory the Devil thought he had, really backfired!  There is imagery that Christ went into the belly of hell and is about to vomit Him out, along with all that He is holding onto, the peoples of the past.

This is what Christ is up to on Holy Saturday. What's going on behind the scenes is monumental. It's earth shattering.

Christ is with us always; He EVEN WENT TO HELL to lift us up to be with Him. Getting out of Hell is our goal here. Christ is "the way, the truth, and the life." (John 14:6). If we're in the dark and can't find our way out of the prison of pornography, grab tightly a hold of Christ, and those He has given you in your life and you will be led out. But you have to find Christ and His faithful followers first. You cannot do it on your own, but you do need to take the right steps yourself. It is then, that Christ can lead you out on this JAILBREAK!
Today's Instructions:
