DAY 48...Good To Not Know

"Let your first task, as soon as you awaken, be the sign of the cross and your first words be the words be the words of the Jesus Prayer." - St. Barsanuphius the Great

Today brings us to question number two, in Fr. Antony's three most important questions, "What is the most important task?" The answer, "The task at hand."  Whatever you are at work doing right now is the most important thing you can be doing. If reading this website is what you are doing, do it with all your heart. Concentrate on what you're doing.

Multitasking is often looked at as a positive talent. To be able to multitask is a quality that is praised and seen as an efficient use of time.  However, studies show that multitasking is not helpful to our brains and takes away from the quality of work that we're doing. It's why if we're driving, we should be driving. We shouldn't be texting and driving, because neither our driving nor texting will be flawless and when we're wielding a massive chunk of metal at high speeds, we need to be as flawless as possible.

If we're not attentive to the tasks at hand we often become more anxious and anxiousness can be a trigger for doing things that are unhealthy such as looking at pornography.

Boundaries are a good thing. When you set out to do something, get that thing done a
nd then move on to the next task, you'll find yourself less anxious and you'll be able to accomplish your goals with more precision and probably more quickly. That is efficiency.

Today's Instructions:
A. Pray for the day, for friends, for family, for enemies. Thanksgiving, Requests, Praise.
B. In the Fortify Program, Update the battle tracker. Go to Week 5. Check out, "What are your thoughts?" and "Zero Tolerance"
C. Go to the daily readings and read today's Scripture.
D. Journal the following: 1. What is something you often do while doing something else? 2. Would it be helpful or harmful to do those two tasks separately?

Today's Tips: When the urges come get up. Stop. Breathe. Pray. Go away from your computer and phone and right down tasks that need to be accomplished today (or tomorrow depending on the time you feel the urges). Prepare to do each task singularly.

God give you strength. See you tomorrow.
